When a second opinion helps

Usually it starts with a piece of paper: a lab result or a scan report. Sometimes it’s a question you’d rather not carry around all weekend.

  • Your blood test came back as a PDF

    Half the numbers are in bold and the family doctor can see you in two weeks. In the meantime, a doctor in the app can open the same file and explain what those numbers mean for you.

  • The surgery date is already set

    Before the operation, you can ask another doctor in the same specialty for a second opinion. Send the surgeon’s plan and the scan reports, with the questions you didn’t get to ask at the hospital.

  • A fever on a Sunday

    The polyclinic is closed, and it doesn’t feel like a case for 112. Write to a pediatrician about what you’re seeing and ask if it can wait until Monday.

  • You live in Milan now

    The blood tests were done there and the next appointment is a month away. Send the PDF from your phone and ask a doctor on x.doctor for a second opinion, as you would from Chișinău.

  • An MRI report full of Latin

    The MRI or CT report runs to two pages of terms and abbreviations. It’s easier with a doctor walking you through it, from the PDF or from photos of the pages.

    Take two photos in daylight, one close up and one from further back, and send them to a dermatologist with a line about when it started.

How to talk to a doctor online

  1. Choose a doctor

    Sign in with a one-time code sent to your email. There’s no password. Each profile shows the doctor’s specialty, a few lines about them, and their price for a day and for a week.

  2. Buy a day or week pass

    Pick 24 hours or 7 days and pay once. For that time you can message and call the doctor, and the pass doesn’t renew on its own.

  3. Message or call the doctor

    Photos and PDFs go into the same chat as your messages, so your results and your questions stay together. If it’s easier to talk, start an audio or video call. The doctor can call you as well.

Find a doctor online by specialty

A child’s cough goes to a pediatrician, a question about your cycle to a gynecologist. These are the specialties you can filter by in the app.

Doctors on x.doctor are listed by specialty. Not every specialty has a doctor at any given time, so check the current list in the app.

Prices: one doctor, for a day or a week

On x.doctor there’s no single price. Each doctor sets two prices in euros, one for a day and one for a week.

  • Who the doctors are

    Second opinions on x.doctor come from licensed medical professionals. On each profile you’ll find the doctor’s specialty and subspecialties, plus an About text in their own words.

  • You choose the doctor

    Nobody assigns you a doctor. You read the profiles and prices, pick one, and your next pass can be with the same doctor or with someone else.

  • Your files and your chat

    Photos and documents sit in the chat with the doctor you chose, next to the messages. How x.doctor handles your data is set out in the privacy policy.

  • 112

    Not for emergencies

    In an emergency, call 112: it works in Moldova and across the EU. Elsewhere, use the local emergency number. A second opinion in the app does not replace an in-person examination.

How do I get a medical second opinion online?

On x.doctor, you pick a doctor in the specialty you need and buy a pass for 24 hours or 7 days. For that time you can send them your results and scan reports as PDFs or photos, and ask about them in the chat or on a video call. Signing in takes a code sent to your email.

Can I find a pediatrician, gynecologist or dermatologist online?

Yes, doctors on x.doctor are listed by specialty, including pediatrician, obstetrician-gynecologist, dermatologist, family doctor and cardiologist. Not every specialty has a doctor at any given time, so check the current list in the app. A dermatologist can look at photos of a rash that you send in the chat.

How much does it cost to talk to a doctor online?

On x.doctor, each doctor sets their own price in euros for a 24-hour pass and a 7-day pass, and you see both before you pay. You pay once by card, with no subscription. Another pass with the same doctor adds its time to the one you have.

Can I ask a doctor online for free?

No, writing to or calling a doctor on x.doctor needs a paid pass, but the app itself is free to download. A pass is a one-off payment for 24 hours or 7 days, at the price the doctor shows on their profile. Signing in and looking through the profiles is free.

Can I send test results, an MRI report or photos?

Yes, in an x.doctor chat you can send photos and PDF documents, such as blood test results, an MRI or CT report or a discharge summary. The app doesn’t accept the image files from an MRI or CT disc, so send the written report, or photos of its pages.

Can I talk to the doctor by video call?

Yes, while your x.doctor pass is active you can call your doctor by audio or video from the chat, and the doctor can call you. The app sends a notification for new messages and incoming calls.

Can a doctor on x.doctor write me a prescription?

No. The x.doctor app issues no prescriptions, sick notes or referrals. The doctor gives a second opinion and recommendations in the chat, and a medicine that needs a prescription is prescribed at an in-person appointment.

I live outside Moldova. Can I use x.doctor?

Yes, x.doctor works outside Moldova too, for example if you live in Italy, Germany, the UK or Ireland. You install it from the App Store or Google Play as usual, results from a local lab go into the chat as a PDF or photo, and the doctor’s price is in euros. In an emergency, call the local emergency number.

How quickly does a doctor reply?

Reply times on x.doctor depend on the doctor, and there is no promised time. The app notifies you when your doctor writes or calls. If it’s urgent, don’t sit waiting for an answer: call 112 in Moldova, or the local emergency number abroad.

Can I use x.doctor in an emergency?

No, x.doctor is not for emergencies. Call 112 in Moldova or anywhere in the EU, or the local emergency number elsewhere. A second opinion or recommendation in the app does not replace an in-person examination either.
